Tropical and Travel Dermatology

This theoretical and practical course will approach the main tropical diseases of travelers and migrants/refugees, with an emphasis on diagnosis, management, and prevention. Among others, diseases caused by virus, bacteria, fungus, protozoa and helminths will be discussed and presented, as well as vaccines and clarifying cases by the speakers, who are experts in their fields of research and have great international experience.

It is very important that health professionals (residents and specialists) are familiar with the main tropical skin diseases and are able to advice patients appropriately, since increasing awareness among health care professionals can help reduce morbidity and mortality of patients.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Identify tropical and imported diseases specific to the field of dermatology
  2. Analyse, efficiently diagnose and provide treatment options for tropical diseases
  3. Reframe the diagnosis analysis in respect to the current migration crisis and from returning travellers
