Mycology

The course is designed to explore new developments and current practice in medical mycology.

It will address important issues from diagnosis to treatment. But it will also explore new aspects of specific infections including dermatophytosis, candidiasis and onychomycosis as well as deep fungal infections that present in the skin. New areas such as the rise of anti fungal resistance and the use of interventional surgical techniques in the treatment of nail disease will also be covered . The course will use a mix of lectures, case based teaching and practical demonstrations. Interactive sessions will be used throughout the programme to reinforce learning objectives.

 

Learning Objectives:

1. To improve personal knowledge about the aetiology, pathogenesis and clinical presentations of fungal infections affecting the skin  
2. To understand the methods of investigating and diagnosing fungal infections of the skin

3. To be able to treat patients with fungal infections using appropriate antifungal drugs and/or procedures

Terms

Resident courses are addressed to dermatology and venereology residents who are members of the EADV.

Selected candidates will benefit of free registration, as well as complimentary accommodation, lunch and coffee breaks and the invitation to a social event.

EADV resident members will also be supported with an educational grant: ensure therefore that your annual membership dues are settled before applying.

The selection of candidates is based on CVs, year of residency and the amount of courses previously attended.
